TL;DR

  • The Samsung Galaxy A53 went through TENAA.
  • The listing confirms the design of the device and some of its key specs including screen size, camera hardware, and more.
  • Don’t expect huge upgrades over the outgoing Galaxy A52 models.

Renders of the Samsung Galaxy A53 broke in late 2021, showcasing a design that excluded a 3.5mm headphone jack. Now, the basic specs of the device and official renders have emerged thanks to TENAA.

The Galaxy A53 might feature a modest rear camera bump that houses four lenses and a flash. A power button and volume rocker sit on the phone’s right flank, while a centered punch-hole is also present. In terms of size, the Galaxy A53 is slightly smaller than the outgoing Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A52s 5G, with a profile of 159.5 x 74.7 x 8.1mm and a weight of 190 grams.

Specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A53

Now let’s move on to the spec sheet. There’s a 6.46-inch 2,400 x 1,080 display, which doesn’t seem like an upgrade over the Galaxy A52. However, there’s no word on the refresh rate, so we could be in for a surprise 120Hz. Samsung will also offer 128GB and 256GB storage options and will keep the microSD card slot.

Other key numbers include 8GB of RAM and a 4,860mAh battery, likely marketed as a 5,000mAh unit. There is no indication which chipset is driving this device, but it is an octa-core chip that sits between 2.0 GHz and 2.4 GHz. This profile best matches the Snapdragon 778G, which is also used in the Galaxy A52s 5G. We will have to wait for official confirmation from Samsung though.

When it comes to imaging, those four rear camera lenses hide 64MP, 32MP, and two 5MP sensors. Judging by the lack of overt upgrades over the Galaxy A52, expect these snappers to perform prime, ultra-wide, macro, and depth-sensing duties again. The selfie shooter is said to use a 12MP sensor.

Finally, there is no mention in the listing of a 3.5mm headphone jack, hinting that the initial rumors of its removal are indeed true.

Judging by this listing’s presence, the Samsung Galaxy A53 shouldn’t be too far off its prime-time debut.
