WTT Champions Macau 2021 China Stars presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group kicks off tomorrow

MACAU, Jan 18 – WTT Champions Macau 2021 China Stars presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, hosted by Macau SAR Government Sports Bureau and World Table Tennis (WTT) and co-hosted by General Table Tennis Association of Macao, will be held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from January 19 to 23, 2022. The draw ceremony took place today in the presence of: Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau; Liu Guoliang, Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Chairman of the WTT Council and President of the China Table Tennis Association; Galaxy Entertainment Group Director Philip Cheng; and players Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu, Sun Yingsha from China, Li Qian from Poland and Cheong Chi Cheng from Macau, China, among others.

The WTT Champions Macau 2021 China Stars will bring together world-renowned table tennis players, including Olympic champions Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin, Liu Shiwen, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu and Sun Yingsha, as well as other players from such as Liang Jingkun, Wang Chuqin, Lin Gaoyuan, Wang Yidi, Chen Xingtong and Doo Hoi Kam, will compete in three categories: men’s singles (16 players), women’s singles (16 players) and mixed doubles (16 pairs). Cheong Chi Cheng is invited to play in the men’s singles.

The first two days (19 and 20 January) will include round of 16 matches in all categories. The quarter-finals in all categories will take place on January 21. The penultimate day (January 22) will see the quarter-finals of the men’s and women’s singles, as well as the semi-finals and the final of the mixed doubles. The men’s and women’s singles semi-finals and finals will take place on January 23. The results of the draw are as follows:

The organizers remind ticket holders that access to the site begins one hour before the start of the first match of the day. Online ticket holders will be able to collect their tickets at the counter on presentation of their receipt between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. from January 19 to 23.

In order for the event to take place in safe conditions, strict epidemic prevention measures will be put in place during the event. The organizers will continue to closely monitor the epidemic status and make arrangements for epidemic prevention in the event of an event in accordance with relevant guidelines and requirements issued by the Health Bureau.
