Boba Fett’s Book shows a much more detailed display of badness in the star wars universe thanks to the various crime lords trying to expand their influence on Tatooine. Of course, there are plenty of other vicious bosses across the galaxy that maintain a level of manipulation on local star systems and more distant planets.
The crime lords have already been overthrown, though the vast majority maintain their hold on their respective territories. Their vicious authority can be dangerous to anyone trying to suppress their larger goals, but even fellow crime lords have something to fear from these menacing leaders of notorious organizations.
Jabba the Hutt
Is there a more dreaded name in star wars than Jabba’s? Regardless of whether the Republic or the Empire held sway over the galaxy, this leading member of the Hutt clan ensured that his power was unfettered, especially within the Outer Rim.
While there’s a cascade of Hutts who each turn to the criminal underworld, none have been as successful as Jabba, who uses fear as an irreplaceable tool. His shadow is long and it’s hard for anyone to fill the void left after Jabba disappeared on their own barge.
Qi’ra
Qi’ra’s entire life was built up to her promotion within Crimson Dawn. Although she started out among the White Worms, she proved resourceful and scrappy, finding her way into the upper echelon of the dark underworld.
She is a tactical genius and usually stays one step ahead of her opponents. Her time in charge of Crimson Dawn seems like a huge opportunity for the young warrior, but the danger lies in her unpredictability and the enemy’s penchant for underestimating her. Hopefully Qi’ra will return to the star wars universe soon.
Dryden Vos
Crimson Dawn had a previous leader who perhaps radiated more terror than Qi’ra could muster. The erratic nature of Dryden Vos could not be taken lightly, as he was a malevolent man who was continually spoiled. If Dryden didn’t get what he wanted, someone was about to feel the crushing consequences.
Dryden Vos has managed to expand his criminal empire further than most would have predicted. He showered himself with riches and was proud to show off his power through physical possessions. Although his pride was his downfall, his name is etched in the history of the galaxy.
Darth Maul
Darth Maul’s path to becoming a crime lord is twisted and cursed by regrets from his past. The former Sith apprentice refused his life alongside Palpatine, eventually devastating Mandalore and forming his own Shadow Collective of other crime lords.
For a long time, Maul was the most influential member of the underworld, with a guiding hand in almost every organization. The character might return thanks to his greater hold on Crimson Dawn, but the legacy he left behind is nothing short of immense, with chaos etched on his timeline.
Cikatro Visago
Vizago helped fuel the successes of the Broken Horn Syndicate throughout the rise of the Galactic Empire. The unstable geopolitical climate of the period meant that many criminal groups profited from the conflict; especially Vizago’s gang on the planet Lothal.
The Devaronian was not a cruel man, far from it. He was even known to have allied himself with known rebels such as Ezra Bridger and Lando Calrissian. However, his profits were what mattered most, and it was not always easy to trust someone whose main goal was to collect more credits.
Lom Pike
Pykes are a species known for their criminal ties. The Pyke Syndicate in particular is strongly tied to its home planet Oba Diah, which in turn has ties to the spice trade in known and some unknown regions. They are some of the most formidable bands in the universe, largely due to their size.
Lom Pyke is one of the most important leaders in the organization and at the top of the Pyke hierarchy. He is cold and calculated; it imbues fear and callousness into every business call. He was so effective due to his cruelty and his ability to generate profit even in dire situations.
Ziton Moj
Ziton Moj might be familiar thanks to Maul’s Shadow Collective, which brought together the deadliest crime lords in existence. His hold on the Black Sun organization was second to none, allowing the group to grow with each passing cycle as they moved into promising new areas.
Moj used his physical presence to intimidate anyone he conversed with. It’s a strong tactic to use, but it was usually accompanied by an inner rage that couldn’t be suppressed. Some might call Ziton reckless, but his actions paid off. It is this attitude that has made his reputation.
Sorc Tormo
The Haxion Brood operate throughout the galaxy and have several unconventional trading relationships. From bounty hunting squads to fighting pits, the brood is led by Sorc Tormo who has a clear eye for conjuring credits from every available opportunity.
Like the most powerful crime lords, Tormor seems to do his business from afar, protecting his life and even his property at all costs. Gambling is another huge source of wealth for the Umbaran, but his connections have imposed a more charismatic personality on the criminal. His arrival leads to one of the toughest boss battles in Jedi: Fallen Order.
Rinnrivin Di
Rinnrivin Di once vied with Jabba the Hutt for power, though his name is largely hidden from record due to the influence he had in underground circles. Despite the covert nature of its operations, Di’s cartel would apprehend hundreds of ships carrying important cargo.
These robberies were just one of many sources of income for Di, but his actions caused a diplomatic crisis that resulted in the intervention of the New Republic and the death of Rinnrivin in the ensuing attack. His demise did not end the legacy of a criminal whose actions left a bloody mark on many star systems.
Lady Proxima
Lady Proxima is an opportunist, taking advantage of those who cannot support themselves and profiting from their misfortune. As leader of the White Worms, his influence is undeniable, though it’s never clear just how far his reach can be felt.
Either way, on the planet Corellia, Proxima had enough resources to sustain itself throughout the rise of the Republic and Empire. The planet is ideally placed to grab credits, with the industry of the system lending itself easily to corrupt deals. Proxima’s wisdom and manipulation make it stand out among star wars‘ crime lords.
