Samsung's new video ripper has a message for Galaxy Note fans

Apple isn’t the only company that can touch your heart with a TV commercial. Friday, Samsung released a video weighing almost three minutes titled “We are behind every wish”. With the next unboxed event coming next month, a video like this is meant to whet the appetite for Samsung devices.
The video is about a grandmother with a cognitive problem (Alzheimer’s?) whose granddaughter comes in every day to make sure she’s okay. When the video begins, we see that the grandmother is painting under the approving gaze of her granddaughter. But when the latter has to leave, it seems that the older woman has trouble remembering her granddaughter’s name.

Samsung will touch your heart with this video

The young woman, Elaina, gets into her car and reports to her mother about “grandmother’s” status (“Yeah, she’s fine”) and her activities (“she’s painting”). It is now the next day and Elaina walks into her grandmother’s house. While walking around the place, she finds paintings that her grandmother made of her. So she does what any loving granddaughter would do; she took out her samsung galaxy phone and took pictures of them.

Yes, Elaina has a great idea and she starts working on her laptop to bring her plan to life. What is she doing? Patience. You will know soon enough. The next day, Elaina approaches her grandmother and tells her “I have something I would like to show you”. And projected on the wall is a virtual art gallery of her grandmother’s paintings as virtual patrons of the arts walk around to view them.

It looks like the virtual gallery was able to stream in real time as comments from real viewers scroll through the lower corner of the projection. “Grandma,” Elaina said, “It’s my present.” Both share a smile and the camera zooms in on a painting of a young Elaina in the center of the screen. Cue the tagline, “We’re behind every wish.”

Samsung commented on the video saying, “When innovation is fueled by Samsung semiconductors, dreams and wishes can come true. From mobiles to metaverse, AI and robots, semiconductors are at the origin of important innovations, making everything possible. Whatever you want, we are always behind it.”

Kudos to Samsung for a well done video. With a few tweaks, this could be turned into a 30 or 60 second commercial. However, since it’s not promoting any particular consumer device, you’re more likely to see it playing at Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event next month, with February 9 listed by Ice Universe as the date. We expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, consisting of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra (“the standout S-series device,” Samsung says).

Sammy’s pun almost confirms Galaxy S22 Ultra rumors

The pun made by Samsung is on the high-end Galaxy S22 Ultra’s strong resemblance to a Galaxy Note model with its square corners, S Pen and silo which is used to house the digital writing instrument. Samsung didn’t release a Galaxy Note model last year and the assumption was that the Note range was gone forever, replaced by Samsung’s focus on its foldable phones.

But Samsung left birdie crumbs, and when renders of the Galaxy S22 Ultra surfaced, the family resemblance made it clear what Samsung was up to. So for those who were wishing for a Galaxy Note 22, it looks like your dreams are about to come true next month. And that ties in with the title of the video above (which, as we’ve pointed out, is also the tagline: “We’re behind every wish”.

Get benefits by making a pre-order reservation with Samsung for the Galaxy S22 series or the Galaxy Tab S8 line

At the unboxed event, we expect Samsung to unveil the Galaxy Tab S8 series as well. You can now make reservations for the Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Tab S8 line. Although you are not pre-ordering any devices, registering will not only make it easier to submit your pre-order when the time comes, but you will also get $50 Samsung Store credit for the accessories you wish to purchase, and an additional $10 credit for those who pre-order through Samsung’s own app.

Additionally, those who sign up will be able to trade in older handsets for up to a $700 credit on new models.
