Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S21 FE 5G in January 2022. The successor to the Galaxy S20 FE 5G comes with plenty of upgrades to help the user deliver a faster experience and longer battery life.
But does the shoe fit the foot?
We have reviewed the handset in detail and here is our review of the new Galaxy S21 FE 5G.
LOOK AND FEEL: PREMIUM-LOOKING SMARTPHONE
The Galaxy S21 FE 5G smartphone has a sleek look and certainly looks like an extension of its predecessor Galaxy S21, a handset that was launched last year. The handset has a matte finished back and on the front it has a glossy screen. When clamped the handset is sleek and easy to grip, but sometimes it feels a bit slippery, so we try hard to have a back cover to get a good grip.
The second most notable feature (in my experience) is the matte metal rim which gives the handset a very premium look.
The smartphone comes with power and volume buttons on the right side of the rim, keeping the other three sides of the phone clean. This means that one can use the handset with one hand and without any problem.
DISPLAY EXPERIENCE – BRIGHT AND VIBRANT!
We can’t deny the fact that Samsung has impressive and bright screens. The same goes for the Galaxy S21 FE 5G as the device could be illuminated with half level of its brightness when used indoors. And when used outdoors, under the sunny sky, the visibility was still quite bright and clear. The colors are realistic, which is perfect and provides a calm visual experience. One can play games, doodle, type messages and do more without feeling any strain (until you brighten the screen way too much than expected), thanks to its adaptable brightness.
Also, the camera quality is fantastic in medium to full light and even in low light situations. The flashlight did wonders in illuminating the object and gave in-depth image quality (as true as it is real)
INTERFACE AND USE
The only word that can describe the Samsung Galaxy S21 Fe 5G is “Smooth” – the sensors, the touch of the screen, the use of the buttons, the controls of the app. The phone handles everything without issue or lag.
Users with even a medium-sized palm can easily operate the handset with one hand. Although the handset feels slippery if used without a back cover, if carried carefully, there is less chance of your handset slipping.
MULTI-TASKING CAPABILITIES (Social Media, NetFlix, Games, Zoom Meetings and more on the fly)
I should mention that the handset handled heavy multitasking very well. I used the handset with graphics heavy games like Asphalt 9, Battlegrounds India and the device took charge positively. The handset did not heat up and functioned normally regardless of whether we had 15 tabs open in the background while gaming. The phone did not compromise with gaming time and delivered a seamless experience with multitasking capabilities.
Samsung is indeed a brand known for its bright screen, excellent processor and heritage of phones, adding to its portfolio, and certainly, this is another device that has established itself as the benchmark for user experience. and quality.
CAMERA QUALITY
One of the most recognized categories of Samsung devices is the camera and the Galaxy S21 FE 5G again stands out for its day and night photography with low light, zoom capabilities and multiple features included in the same.
The smartphone has three cameras on the rear frame: 50 megapixels (wide), 16 megapixels (ultrawide) and 2 megapixels (macro). Believe me, I tried every possible angle to click the images – and the results were great. The focus is precise and clear. But when you zoom in to extremes, image quality may be slightly compromised with visible pixels, but still, the fast scope is beyond what a regular camera has. Portraits and long shots are amazing and additional features such as slow motion, dual camera shooting and many more add benefits for additional options.
On the front, the handset has a 16-megapixel camera with Auto-HDR function. Indeed, one of the impressive selfie cameras over time, and with the best results even in low light situations.
I’ve certainly done a lot of photography with the handset over the past 20 days, and I have to mention that the device has never ceased to impress me with the quality and output it has delivered.
GREAT AUTONOMY!
Another thing I liked was the battery life of the new Galaxy S21 FE 5G. With a 4500 mAh battery, the device was able to run smoothly for a day. I played graphics heavy games like Asphalt 9, shuffled through social media, used zoom calls, connected 2-3 bluetooth devices (headphones, smartwatch and bluetooth speaker sometimes) and still had enough juice to work for a day, without worrying about the charger.
I saw the handset handle multitasking well and the handset lasted a day on a single charge when used normally (using internet streaming, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube video and more). And when the device is continuously used to watch graphics-heavy movies/movies/series on OTT (Netflix, Amazon Prime Videos, Disney Hotstar, Zee5 and more), or while playing graphics-heavy games for a long time, the smartphone is able to provide life for almost 12 to 14 hours easily.
The only aspect missing is the charging adapter which does not come with the dual Type-C charging cord. As the handset does not have a charging adapter in the box, we will have to spend a bit more to buy one one, which helps to charge the device faster. But even if you don’t have an adapter, the cord is able to charge the handset from another handset that supports Type-C slot. But to experience the fast charging aspect, we suggest users obtain a charging adapter to take advantage of the handset’s fast charging capability.
CONCLUSION
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G is a commendable performer with excellent camera quality. One can use multiple apps and games – from chatting to using the OTT platform to gaming – the handset won’t let you down. And at a price of Rs 54,999, for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the handset is a good deal, but perhaps many might think the price is higher. But if someone is looking for a device with a premium look, great camera, battery, and multitasking capabilities, the Galaxy S21 FE 5G is worth checking out.
