Orlando Pirates accused of denying TS Galaxy president Sukazi stadium access

PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed the Orlando Pirates have been charged with denying TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi entry into the stadium on December 11.

Both teams were to play at the Orlando stadium and the administrator had gone to offer support to the visitors.

He was denied access and a video of him battling with police and security after being refused entry to the iconic stadium was posted on the club’s official Twitter page.

The Rockets said Sukazi had to fight his way into the arena even though he had the proper accreditation passes.

What was said?

“I can confirm that Orlando Pirates FC have been charged and the case has been forwarded for hearing on Wednesday, January 26,” Majavu told media.

“This is related to misconduct resulting from the TS Galaxy President’s denial of entry into the stadium.

“The charges against Orlando Pirates relate to this incident. It is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Once it is finalized by the Disciplinary Committee, I will provide an update on this.”

It was not the first time such an incident had occurred. South Africa head coach Hugo Broos was also denied access to the Orlando stadium to watch the PSL tie between Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in September last year.

The Belgian tactician ended up missing the titanic encounter which saw the Buccaneers succumb to a 2-0 loss to Masandawana at the 2010 FIFA World Cup training site.

The PSL later apologized to the South African Football Association for the confusion.
