If you were holding out hope for a radically new design from the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup due next year, new leaks bolster rumors that a visual upgrade is coming.
The most obvious thing that works consistently across generations seems to be their overall shapes, with three device sizes (previous leaks suggest the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will sport similar dimensions to their predecessors), as well as the number of camera lenses on each device.

Long-time forecaster, ice universe (opens in a new tab) posted two separate leaks on Twitter on October 16 and 17 that included four images of alleged Galaxy S23 cases, and while appearing to be from different accessory makers, they all appear to be working from a similar model; with straighter sides and cleaner camera modules than what’s found in the current Galaxy S22 lineup.
Case photos show the expected S23 and S23 Plus sporting a vertically aligned triple rear camera setup, with an offset LED flash at the top, while the S23 Ultra will adopt an almost identical four-camera array layout on the Ultra current. .
It’s already well documented that 2022’s Galaxy S22 Ultra is the oddball of this year’s Galaxy S trio, design-wise; carrying the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra’s top-down pill-shaped silhouette and pairing it with a distinct rear waterdrop camera array that’s distinct from the Contour Cut cameras first seen on the Galaxy S21 series and continued on the S22s and S22 Plus.
This camera design will feature on all three models next year, it seems, with straight sides on the S23 and S23 Plus much closer in style to the aesthetic Apple has brought to the ranges. iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, in recent years. .
Analysis: not quite “closed case”
The relative simplicity of engineering and manufacturing phone cases (at least compared to the phones they protect) means that accessory makers can tweak and alter the design of cases down to the last second.
In the past we at TechRadar have received what appear to be finished cases for unreleased phones days before a device is released and despite the seemingly complete nature of the product, case makers have told us that they were prepared and ready to manufacture modifications if necessary, even once the phone the case is intended for was launched.
Even with many sources and leaks now pointing to a design upgrade to the S23 series as a whole, such flexibility means design speculations based on case leaks like this don’t hold as much water. than you might expect.
That said, we’re hoping the company commits to a more upright design for next year’s Galaxy S phones, because while that might compromise the existing supply of comfortable inlets, the larger internal volume would allow for Samsung to introduce larger batteries in these. new telephones; helping them find a purchase in our roundup of the best phones.
