LA Galaxy and Dignity Health team up to host 3-part blood drive series at Dignity Health Sports Park on game days

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, February 8, 2022) – The LA Galaxy and the Southern California division of Dignity Health have teamed up to help tackle the nation’s worst blood shortage in more than a decade by hosting a series of blood drives at Dignity Health Sports Park. The events will take place before LA Galaxy regular season games on Sunday, February 27, Saturday, March 19 and Saturday, April 23. The LA Galaxy and Dignity Health have partnered with LifeStream to help run the series of blood drives.

“We look forward to working closely with our valued partners at Dignity Health to host a series of blood drives at Dignity Health Sports Park,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “The LA Galaxy is committed to serving all of Los Angeles and hopes this series of blood drives can have a positive impact on the shortage of blood in our communities.”

The American Hospital Association, American Medical Association and American Nurses Association recently issued a joint statement urging Americans to donate blood, calling the current shortage a result of the pandemic.

Blood shortages continue to endanger patient care. These campaigns will help protect patients in our community and save lives.

“Dignity Health’s partnership with LA Galaxy provides us with unique opportunities to extend our care beyond the walls of our hospitals to meet the diverse needs of our communities,” said Julie J. Sprengel, President and CEO. from the Southern California division of Dignity Health. “This series of blood drives with LifeStream addresses a critical need for blood donations at a time when many hospitals are experiencing historic low levels.”
